My earliest memory of flowers was in my parents backyard. They always grew an abundance of zinnias and had a constant bouquet going on the kitchen table.
By nurture, I've always grown a ton of zinnias and for my backyard wedding, I wanted them everywhere. In the spring of 2020, my husband Studley and I made all our garden beds bigger and planted as many flowers as they could fit. Our wedding wasn't until September so we had all season to enjoy these flowers. I had so many flowers, I didn't know what to do with them all!
There's something symbolic about a bouquet of flowers. Whether the event is for no reason, a celebration, or time of mourning... the gift of flowers brighten people's days. With Covid plaguing the world, didn't everyone need a little cheering up? And through flowers and Covid, my free flower stand popped up. Every week I would pick 3-6 bouquets for perfect strangers to drive by and find.
Making bouquets of flowers brought me so much joy during these hard times and the thought of someone else sitting at their kitchen table enjoying the fruits of my labor was very fulfilling... so I continued the tradition in 2021 and I plan on continuing in 2022.
